Teaching Philosophy

Oxana’s teaching is tailored to each student's individual needs and abilities. Lessons are designed so there is time for sight reading exercise, theory practice, and polishing piano repertoire pieces.  From the very beginning students are guided to learn healthy piano techniques. Besides playing etudes and scales, Ms. Titova  often designs unique technical exercises which help to tackle specific technical challenges each piano repertoire piece might present.Students are encouraged to play various music from different classical music eras and styles since  this approach is important in order to develop understanding and sensitivity to the music. From early lessons students are encouraged to discover and explore different performance tools that help to play music with deep comprehension  and emotional involvement.

A vast amount of musical literature collected over  20 years of experience allows Ms Titova to expose students to the treasures of musical culture and help them enjoy a rich musical life by participating in its traditions.

Materials: Students are required to have a high quality instrument at home. Metronom could be bought or there are some free app options. Suggested books should be purchased by the student. There is  a various collection of music books which could be lended to the students.

Practice: To achieve best results, students should practice 5 days per week. The length of time depends on the age and the repertoire level. Parents can contribute by helping to set a definite time of day reserved for piano practice. Unless ill, students are expected to attend all the lessons, even if there has been little practice done. Homework, sports and entertainment are not considered valid excuses for absences. Parents are welcome to be present at lessons.
